The World Athletic Indoor Championships in Belgrade ended on Sunday, which was also the most beautiful day that far. As many as three world records were broken, the Belgrade Arena saw over 10,000 fans who "lived" athletics, and Ivana Vuleta also brought Serbia a gold medal.

Athletics has been the number one topic in Serbia these days, both because of the domestic competitors and because of the championships itself, the organization of which was given to Belgrade, which also showed itself in a great light.

It all started when the Arena began to be filled with a large audience that came to see the best athletes in the world, led by our Ivana Vuleta. In addition to her, they expected a lot from stars like Yulimar Rojas and Armand Duplantis, who aimed at world records, and they also managed to break them.

The first of the bigger stars was Yulimar Rojas, who performed in the morning. The graceful athlete from Venezuela, who amazed the world with at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where she also won a gold medal, did it again. Again, like an antelope, she reached gold convincingly with small steps, but also a world record. The fact that she was a whole meter better than the second-placed Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk from Ukraine shows how superior she was in relation to her competition.

However, Rojas herself stated that this is not the end, that she is also targeting the 16-meter limit. If it continues like this, that is not impossible, since it is only 26 years old.

The audience enjoyed it, but it was just preparation for everything that followed...

After Yulimar Rojas broke the world record, there was a break for the audience, in preparation for the best that this World Championships had to offer.

Grant Holloway continued in the same manner as Rojas, and the Arena had the opportunity to see another world record, that is, the American equalizing it. In the second semifinal race of the 60-meter with hurdles event, Holloway managed to pass the finish line first with in 7.29, which equaled the world record, also set by him.

Following him was Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, who was 24 hundredths of a second slower than him.

Later, in the final race, Grant Holloway did not repeat the result from the semifinals, he was 10 hundredths of a second slower, but he certainly finished in first place and brought the US a gold medal. Martinot-Lagarde was second again, while Jarrett Eaton finished third.

But, like Rojas, Holloway was just a "slight warm-up" for what was to follow, for the two athletes whose performances led the audience to come to the Arena - Ivana Vuleta and Armand Duplantis.

The main star of the evening was the domestic athlete Ivana Vuleta, that the whole of Serbia hoped would bring our country the brightest medal - and she did it!

With a jump of 7.06, Ivana managed to give Serbia a gold medal, the only one at this championship, but alsoa  very valuable one. Both to her and to all the people who came to the Arena and cheered her on during each of the six jumps. Milica Gardasevic also competed in the finals, finishing in a great ninth place.

The heroine of Serbian athletics, as she is called, Ivana Vuleta, managed to defend the title won in Birmingham.

After Vuleta, it was the turn of the man who was most eagerly expected - Armand Duplantis.

Only two weeks ago, Duplantis managed to break the world record at a rally in Belgrade when he jumped higher than 6.19, but he said even then that it was not enough for him and that he would try to set a new record at the championships. He said and did.

This Swede, who is only 23 years old, is pushing the boundaries, every competition he takes part in is a "threat" to the world record, even though he has already left the famous Sergey Bubka far behind.

Belgrade loves Duplantis, but he also loves this city to which he is bound by most beautiful memories. Memories that become even more beautiful with each visit. How much he is thrilled by the city is evident in the fact that he learned to play kolo, the traditional Serbian folk dance, that he will celebrate with brandy, but also scenes from the Arena when the entire audience supported him loudly during each jump.

When line in drawn under this third day, the results are really great. As many as three broken world records, a huge number of people in the Arena, but also a gold for Serbia, it could hardly be any better.

Add to that the enthusiasm of the first man of the World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, who said in an exclusive interview with Telegraf that his impressions from the Arena are phenomenal and that he hopes that Serbia could be a candidate for the World Outdoor Championships, even greater satisfaction can be felt.
