Jevrosimovic: Thank you World Athletics for trust, Serbia is smallest country to organize World Championships
The first man of the Athletics Federation of Serbia, Veselin Jevrosimovic, thanked President of the World Athletics Sebastian Coe for his kind words about Serbia and the organization of the World Championships in Belgrade.
At a press conference held before the start of the championships, which will be held in the Belgrade Arena from March 18 to 20, he explained how big of an engineering feat has been done to prepare the Arena for the athletics championships, and also said that he is grateful to everyone who made it possible to organize the biggest sports competition ever held in our country.
"Thank you Sebastian Coe and World Athletics for entrusting us with organizing the competition. Serbia is the smallest country that has organized the World Indoor Championships. This was a real engineering feat, the construction weighs over 2,000 tons, over 50,000 screws have been installed, which speaks of the complexity. The arena is ready, we are ready to host over 680 athletes who will battle it out for the title of the best in the world. I have to thank many people. I thank President Aleksandar Vucic, the Government of Serbia, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, the City of Belgrade, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Serbian Olympic Committee, the sponsors Dunav, Comtrade, Voda Voda and Telekom Srbija," said Veselin Jevrosimovic.
