Croatian officials are publishing the first information about the aircraft that crashed last night in Zagreb at around 11 pm.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said that it was a Russian-made aircraft, but that it was not certain whether it was in the possession of the Russian or the Ukrainian army.
"It came to Croatia from the direction of Hungary, and to Hungary from Romania. It flew for a few minutes in Croatia, and then fell," said Plenkovic.
He said it was good that no one was injured.
"We also contacted the Ukrainian side to see if they have information about how the aircraft reached as far as Zagreb," said the prime minister.
As previously stated in an announcement of the government of Croatia, all competent services were involved immediately after the crash of a military-type unmanned aircraft, which, according to data collected so far, entered Croatian airspace from east to west, i.e. from Hungarian airspace, at a speed of 700 kilometers an hour at an altitude of 1,300 meters.
"A criminal investigation is underway in cooperation with the criminal and military police, and other measures are being taken in coordinating the security and defense system, including international cooperation, especially with NATO, in order to determine all the circumstances of the event," the statement said.
A strong explosion was heard in Zagreb last night after the craft crashed, and a huge crater remained at the site.
