Gornji Dubac, a corner of Serbia where peace reigns: This is what a Dragacevo paradise looks like
Gornji Dubac is located on the River Bjelica, overlooking the Cemerno Mountain. It is a Dragacevo, western Serbia area village rich in water springs.
Ice cold water, Dragicevska Cesma and Dzarijeva Voda are just some of the springs that make Gornji Dubac look like a fairy tale.
The landscape is completed by orchards and meadows growing on a rolling terrain, where an almost divine sense of peace is felt at every step.
Although there are only a hundred or so households in the village itself, the locals are determined to stay in their homes, and are happy to open theirdoors to anyone who would like to breathe in clean Dragacevo air and experience the magic of living in, as they say, a paradise on earth.
If you are willing, you can learn how to make old-fashioned Serbian cheese-and-egg pie, how to prepare fruit preserve from juicy Dragacevo fruit, to knit and embroider...
During the plum harvest season, "cheerful machines," i.e., distilling pots, work at full steam here, producing brandy of fierce and clean intensity. And since you are already learning how to make brandy, then, the custom dictates that it is obligatory to taste it as well - together with the hosts who have mastered to perfection the technique of making this spirit.
