Serbian ambassador and embassy staff evacuated from Ukraine
The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Ukraine temporarily shut down today for security reasons, in order to protect our staff.
The staff of that diplomatic-consular mission will continue to work from Belgrade until conditions have been met for their return.
Three diplomats and one employee have left Serbia's embassy in Kiev and have been safely evacuated from Ukraine.
All citizens of Serbia who are still in Ukraine will continue to be provided with around the clock assistance. They can get in touch by calling (+ 381-11) 3068-888 or (+ 381-11) 3068-884, and can also send emails at consul@mfa.rs.
The embassies of the Republic of Serbia in the countries bordering Ukraine are at their disposal in providing any assistance.
Back on February 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia recommended to citizens of the Republic of Serbia residing in Ukraine to consider the possibility of temporarily leaving the territory of that country, and issued a recommendation to those who intended to travel to Ukraine to postpone their trip.
In his interview for RTS Ambassador Aca Jovanovic said yesterday that "all those who could leave, have left Kiev."
"Yesterday, there was a lot of pressure towards the bridges, leaving via the right side where the railway station is, because that is one of the two ways to get out of Kiev. The railway service is now free of charge for those going west, all passengers who board can go," Jovanovic said on Wednesday.
