Tourism on "Golden Mountain" was born in Vodice: For many, this is the most beautiful part of Mt. Zlatibor
Mountain lovers in Serbia are divided into those who choose Zlatibor or Kopaonik, and those who prefer Tara and Stara Mountain.
All four mountain beauties in Serbia have their own charms, but few know exactly where the construction of tourist facilities started.
On Mt. Zlatibor, that location is Vodice, now a weekend settlement about ten kilometers from the center of the main resort.
Back in 1750, a well known Sarajevo merchant, Hadzi Nikola Selak, discovered Vodice as a location whose natural beauties enchanted him, so he decided to build a summer house there.
Vodice is the heart of tourism on Zlatibor, which by chance remained a little outside the urbanized part of the mountain, where everyone who wants to be seen and enjoy numerous tourist facilities flocks to.
Precisely for that reason, many consider Vodice to be the most beautiful part of Zlatibor. Surrounded by Tornik, Murtenica and Cigota, on the bank of the River Rzav, this settlement is today a hidden paradise on Serbia's most popular mountain.
Clean air, pastures with blossoming plants and lush fragrant pines that nature has woven around a meander of the Rzav make you feel as if you just stepped into a fairy tale which you will never want to leave...
