Loncar: Epidemiological situation under control, new cases, number of seriously ill Covid patients decreasing
Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar said today that the epidemiological situation in Serbia is under control and that the numbers of both newly infected people and patients with a more severe clinical picture are dropping.
"Capacities in hospitals are less filled, which gives us the opportunity to deal more with non-Covid patients, who had to wait all this time, and reform the system for patients who must be treated and do not have coronavirus," Loncar said during a visit to the General Hospital in Pozarevac, in which his ministry has invested more than a million euros.
The minister appealed on those who have not been vaccinated so far to do that, stating that the course of the pandemic depends on everyone, which is why it is important to adhere to Covid measures that, according to him, have been proven to work.
Loncar visited the Pozarevac hospital, which, thanks to the investments friom the Ministry of Health, received a new, modern scanner, the latest X-ray device and a fully equipped ambulance.
He pointed out that more than one million euros have been invested in the new equipment.
"With this scanner, 200,000 patients who gravitate towards this area will not have to go somewhere else, and you solve the problem of waiting lists, because everything can be done here," said Loncar.
He added that the scanner would be operated in two shifts and that additional staff would be hired.
"For us, neither this scanner, nor anything else we are doing, has any meaning unless we have people and are investing in them," said Loncar.
