Emir Kusturica will become the main director of the Central Theater of the Russian Army

Serbian film director Emir Kustirica has accepted the proposal of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, to take over as the general director of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army. The press secretary of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Rossiyana Markovskaya, told journalists on Monday.

According to reports, the defense minister has held a meeting with Kusturica on Monday.

"Noticing the role of Kustirica in preserving and developing the best traditions of Russian cinematography, Shoigu invited him to take the position of the main director of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army," said Markovskaya.

She added that Kusturica accepted the proposal of the minister of defense of Russia, thanking him.

"For me, Sergei Shoigu's proposal for (Emir Kusturica) become the general director of the theater is a great thing. The stage of the theater of the Russian Army has a great history and tradition," said Markovskaya.

According to her, Kusturica expressed hope that "this will be a good job" and stressed that "in a world where values change very quickly" he will try to preserve the classic ones, reports the Russian agency TASS.
