A horrific traffic accident that happened last night in Vlasotince has claimed the life of a 23-year-old man, who died at the University Clinical Center in Nis from the consequences of the crash.

The young man was transported from the Leskovac hospital in very serious condition.

"The patient arrived at the University Clinical Center in Nis with barely measurable vital parameters and passed away last night at 11:40 pm. He was in extremely serious condition, he had multiple traumatic injuries to his head, chest and other parts of his body. Attempts were made to resuscitate him for 40 minutes, but, unfortunately, it was not possible to help him," the Nis clinic announced.

The victim first lost control of a Ford Fiesta he was driving, then hit a hedge before colliding with a tree.

The police said the cause of the accident was being investigated.
