Today around noon, President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, attended a ceremony to mark the beginning of the construction of the fast road Sabac-Loznica, which is part of the Ruma-Sabac-Loznica project.

According to the contractor, this road should be completed by the end of October 2024.

The 45.4 km long highway from Novi Sad through Fruska Gora to Ruma will be connected to this road, so that the largest city in Vojvodina will have the fastest road connection with the western part of Serbia and with the Serb Repubic, i.e., Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ruma-Sabac-Loznica is 77 kilometers long and the trip from Belgrade to Sabac will last a maximum of 40 minutes along the new corridor; to Loznica in an hour and 15 minutes, it was announced earlier.

How is the bridge progressing, Vucic asked? - The realization is about 60 percent. Ruma-Sabac should be ready by the end of September 2023, it was confirmed today. "So in a year and a half, from Belgrade to Sabac it will take 45 minutes, it's unbelievable," said Vucic.

It is stated that the said route should be ready by next September.

"If we reach Loznica in September 2024, it is really unbelievable. Nobody dreamed of that. Then we have to think about Mali Zvornik and the entire Drina region," the president pointed out today.

He added that "this cooperation with Azerbaijan is based on the extraordinary work done by Azvirt."

"They have already earned their references by building the Ljig-Preljina section. I don't know if our friends from Azvirt are in a hurry to do everything on time, since we agreed the deals earlier, and the prices are jumping now, but you see, it's good that we are arranging jobs in advance and are building roads."

"We have great trust in President Aliyev," Vucic pointed out.

According to him, this project should attract investors, which means job creation, i.e. higher salaries, pensions.

The value of the entire project is 467.5 million euros, including 56 facilities and 2 major bridges. All populated places are bypassed, the route goes closer to the River Drina and ends in the Loznica field, the president of Serbia pointed out. He especially noted that people from this area, due to faster travel to Belgrade, will be able to stay and live in their homes, while working in the capital.

Loznica should be reached from Belgrade in about an hour, it was added. It will take an hour from Loznica to Novi Sad.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan said that he is "pleased to point out to the successful relations between his country and Serbia." Kamil Khasiyev said that economic cooperation is also developing, as shown by this project.
