Dr. Predrag Kon, epidemiologist and member of the Crisis HQ set up to combat the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia, was on TV Prva on Tuesday morning when he spoke about the new strain of coronavirus that has been confirmed in Serbia!

On that occasion, he also commented on the situation around Novak Djokovic and his words, which were allegedly used in a statement against Djokovic, regarding vaccination.

"I have followed everything around Novak. I'm sorry and I only said that because I didn't have a chance to talk to him and that's all I said regarding his beliefs. And I wish him all the best. It's not clear in the report how they used that post of mine, but I don't know if there is anyone here who is not his fan, so I wish Novak all the best. I commented that it is not in the spirit of the health rulebook that they did not let him (play Australian Open), which does not mean that it is not right, as a state they have the right to secure their borders," said Kon and added:

"As far as vaccination is concerned, I stick to the position I have held. What I would most like is for Djokovic to play tennis and have no problems, especially because big tournaments are coming, I respect what Novak Djokovic says, that's how it has been decided - vaccination is voluntary and I don't understand how he could have represented a public health danger. That could be much debated. It's clear to me what happened, and what happened is that it's not acceptable to treat an individual like that."

Djokovic was recently deported from Australia because he was allegedly a danger to that country due to being unvaccinated, although it is clear to everyone that this was a political decision.

Novak will play in Dubai in February, and it is still unknown whether he will be able to participate in the French Open and Wimbledon since he is still not vaccinated. There are no obstacles for now, but the decisions made by the countries hosting the tournaments regarding Covid mandates are changing from day to day.
