Novak gets giant mural dedicated to him in Montenegro, with a quote by Patriarch Pavle for all times
The world's best tennis player, Novak Djokovic, is loved in Serbia, but equally in Montenegro. After getting deported from Melbourne, Djokovic traveled from Belgrade to Montenegro on two occasions. First to Tivat, then to the Ostrog monastery, and then he went to Zabljak.
On the second occasion, he also visited Budva, where he was greeted in a spectacular fashion, and on that occasion became an honorary citizen of this most popular summer resort in Montenegro.
Novak is equally loved on the coast and in the north of Montenegro.
Proof of that is a giant mural that appeared on the facade of a house in the town of Berane, dedicated to the best tennis player in the world. The photo of the mural was posted on his Instagram by Novak's father Srdjan.
Novak is shown holding his Wimbledon trophy, and the mural is also adorned with quotes by the late Serbian Patriarch Pavle.
"We are obliged to behave as decent people in the most difficult circumstances, and there is no national or individual interest that could be an excuse for us to act otherwise," it is written next to the mural.
Novak did not participate in the Australian Open because Australian authorities deported him, and his first tournament in 2022 will be in Dubai, set to be played February 21-26.
