Nadal's lobby forgives no one: Council of Mallorca director sacked for supporting Djokovic

Joseph Manchado, the director for the environment at the Council of Mallorca, has been fired because of the public support he showed to Novak Djokovic during the world's best tennis player's dispute with Australia over obtaining a visa and competing at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

El Diario writes that Manchado was dismissed due to "the loss of mutual trust and disagreements that arose" in relation to the director in charge of sustainable development and environment of the Spanish island where Rafael Nadal was born.

Manchado has repeatedly posted "Go on, Nole" on social media, as well as messages like, "Millions of people are with you."

The Spanish newspaper reports that he was criticized because of that, as well as because his recent statement against harsh coronavirus measures, i.e., lockdowns which, in his opinion, "are reminiscent of the time of Nazism."

Unlike Nadal, who has little to be proud of regarding his statements made in Melbourne before and after the deportation of Novak Djokovic, Josep Manchado proved that there are many people for whom the truth comes first, above the passion as fans.
