The Ravanica Monastery, the endowment of Prince Lazar Hrebeljanovic, is located at the foot of the Kucaj Mountains, close to the village of Senje near the town of Cuprija.

This Serbian Orthodox shrine was built between 1375 and 1377. Its cathedral church is dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord and is located in the central part of the monastery complex.

According to architectural and artistic features, Ravanica is the progenitor of the so-called Morava style. It was built by Rade Neimar from Bar.

Like many other holy places in Serbia, Ravanica was burned and looted, but also repaired several times.

Since 1390, when the relics of Prince Lazar were transferred from Pristina to Ravanica, this monastery became a place of pilgrimage and a place where the cult of the holy Serbian prince was created. During the Great Migration of Serbs, his relics were transferred to Szentendre in Hungary, then to Vrdnik, and then to the Cathedral Church in Belgrade.

The relics were returned to Lazar's endowment on September 9, 1989, where they are still located today. Previously, they traveled through Serbia for more than a year, and the faithful worshiped them in the monasteries Tronosa, Petkovica, Lelic, Celije, Bogovadja, Zica, Ljubostinja, Studenica, Gracanica, Lazarica...

Many believe that a prayer said over the relics of the Holy Prince Lazar has special power.

The reliquary with the relics is open on holidays and Sundays during the liturgy service, as well as on Sundays during the reading of akathist, after the evening service.
