16,403 new coronavirus cases in Serbia, another 30 patients die: 113 are on ventilators
Coronavirus virus was confirmed in 16,403 people in the last 24 hours, and at the same time 30 patients died as a result of Covid.
34,817 people got tested.
113 patients are on ventilators.
A new shipment of Covid vaccines arrived in Serbia today, which was procured through the Covax mechanism.
This delivery includes 100,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines, which arrived at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport this morning, UNICEF announced.
"This is important because, as the current epidemiological situation shows, a high level of vaccination is a key factor in the fight against coronavirus," said a statement.
It added that the Government of Serbia financed the delivery of the vaccines, while UNICEF, as a mediator in the Covax mechanism, has so far provided the procurement, transport and delivery of 702,000 doses of vaccines to Serbia.
The Covax initiative is led by the GAVI vaccine alliance, the World Health Organization, and CEPI, and aims to ensure that all countries in the world have fair access to safe and effective coronavirus vaccines. UNICEF supports this process as a key delivery partner.
