Serbian archaeologists, anthropologists, bioarchaeologists and computer scientists, with the support of the National Platform "Serbia Creates," have achieved a scientific feat and created a biokinetic model, a faithful, "living" copy of the face of an ancient inhabitant of Lepenski Vir, a Mesolithic archeological site in Serbia.

All visitors of the Serbian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will on December16 be among the first in the world to attend the premiere of the innovation coming from Serbia, that connects science and the gaming industry - a virtual revival of a prehistoric human from Lepenski Vir, with the help of the state-of-the-art MetaHuman and Unreal engine technology.

For the first time in history, visitors to the Serbian Pavilion will be able to learn about and interact with an authentic, moving 3D face of a man who lived in prehistoric times and died on the banks of the Danube River in Serbia about 10,000 years ago.

Namely, Serbian scientists combined the knowledge gained by studying bones, the science of DNA and other forensic processes with the knowledge of Serbian gaming innovators and their state-of-the-art gaming technology, to create a realistic 3D face of a man who lived ten millennia ago and "bring him back to life."

The integration of bone data, which Serbian scientists call Digital Ancient Human Technology, has been combined with the unique MetaHuman technology.

Who is the man from Lepenski Vir?

The first Digital Ancient People project is the face of a Mesolithic man whose remains were discovered at the Lepenski Vir site in eastern Serbia, on the banks of the Danube River. It was determined that at the time of his death he was about 50 years old, about 178 centimeters tall, weighed 70 kilograms and ate mainly fish. He was buried in the "lotus" position, which indicates that he played an important role in his community.
