Dr. Skodric: First shipment of anti-Covid pills will arrive in Serbia soon

The intial delivery of the latest drugs against coronavirus will arrive in Serbia these days, acting Director of the Republic Health Insurance Fund (RHIF) Sanja Radojevic Skodric said today and stressed that these are drugs that must be used in the first five days of the illness.

Serbia will receive the necessary quantities of the drugs Molnupiravir and PAXLOVID, said Radojevic Skodric and warned that the two drugs are not intended for people under 18, pregnant women and nursing mothers.

According to her, Molnupiravir will arrive in December, the first shipment of 12,000 doses, after two weeks the second will be sent, and then the agreed quantities amounting to 50,000 doses will be arriving.

When existing quantities have been used, she stated, additional ones will be procured.

In the first quarter, 100,000 Pfizer-produced PAXLOVID doses will arrive, she said, adding that the world is interested and oriented towards these drugs because they are easy to use, they are administered in the form of tablets, which will relieve hospitals.

"They prevent a more severe phase of the disease and death," said Radojevic Skodric.

The drugs, she said, are registered for people over the age of 18, while risk factors are obesity, cardiovascular disease, malignant diseases or some other chronic conditions.
