Heavy snow forecast for Sunday: Roads of Serbia urges traffic participants to be careful

Public company Roads of Serbia (Putevi Srbije) is urging traffic participants to be particularly careful when driving and to adjust the speed to the conditions on the road, because, according to a warning issued by the RHMZ, snow cover will increase in mountain areas on Saturday, December 11, in southern and western Serbia (in places more than 15 centimeters in 24 hours).

On Sunday, December 12, snow is expected in most parts of Serbia. In lower areas, it will be 5 to 25 centimeters deep, and in the mountains even more. The northwest of the country will remain dry, said the company.

Heavy precipitation is expected in the hills and mountains of eastern and southeastern Serbia (up to 50 centimeters of new snow). There will be strong northerly wind, which will reach storm strength in some places, creating snow drifts.

RHMZ also said that it will be cloudy, cold and windy with snow and strong northerly wind in Belgrade on Sunday. It is expected that snow will be from 5 to 15 centimeters deep in lower areas of the city, while in the higher ones it should be about 20 centimeters. There will be up to 30 centimeters of snow on Avala and Kosmaj.

The public company has appealed on drivers to use winter tires, to have winter equipment and snow chains, to respect speed limits and adjust the speed to winter conditions on the road.
