Body of Chinese department store fire victim found 7 days later in Obrenovac, search continues
A body has been found in the burned down former Jugodrvo building in Obrenovac.
After forensic examination has been completed, the name of the victim, found in the destroyed building, will be published, RTV Mag reports.
A detailed search of the interior of the burned down Chinese department store continues.
As the 600-square-meter building completely burned down, and its roof was damaged to a great extent, rescue teams could only safely enter the day before yesterday and start searching for the bodies.
The search started only then because there was a possibility that the roof could collapse, so it was necessary to first remove parts of the building with an excavator and clear the terrain.
It is still uncertain when the search will be completed and how much longer it will take to find the victims.
The fire happened last Thursday before noon. Two women remained in the building, a worker employed in the Chinese store, Valentina L., and a shopper, Svetlana P., who came in just before the fire broke out.
It is not yet known what caused the fire, there are no official announcements about it yet. There has been speculation that it was either due to pyrotechnics or light decorations.
