President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stressed on Tuesday that "we have made a political star out of Viola von Cramon" who speaks against Serbia using the worst language, reports Tanjug.

Vucic said that when asked to comment on von Cramon's statements, after her meeting with Serbian Orthodox Church's Bishop Grigorije of Dieseldorf and Germany, when she said that the Serbian Orthodox Church does not exist, but is an autonomous diocese.

"We have made von Cramom into a great political star and she does nothing but talk smack about Serbia in every place, she speaks against our country and the interests of our country using the worst language. Whatever she has said is against Serbia. From saying that we must be convicted for genocide, that Kosovo must be independent, that Serbs must be held accountable for everything they have done," he explained.

Von Cramon: "There is no Serbian Orthodox Church"

After Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Viola von Cramon announced on Twitter that she had met with Bishop Grigorije, she had an exchange on the social media platform with another user, during which she made the claim that "the Serbian Orthodox Church does not exist."

She said that in response to a comment that the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) is pro-Russian and that it would be great to change that.

"There is no 'Serbian Orthodox Church', these are very autonomous dioceses, different to the Catholic Church. Speak to the bishop and you will be surprised," wrote Von Cramon.

Von Cramon then quickly deleted the tweet in which she stated that the Serbian Orthodox Church does not exist.

She previously announced that she had "a constructive and open discussion with Grigorije, a bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Diocese of Dusseldorf and All Germany, about common challenges and inter-religion dialogue in the Western Balkans and Germany."

"Let's use what unites us for the betterment of all," she said.

Vucic called on everyone to decide for themselves how she came to the conclusion that the Serbian Orthodox Church does not exist, but the dioceses do.
