Chinese shopping center in Obrenovac the morning after: A worker missing, firefighters still there

The morning after a fire in Obrenovac, terrifying photos are coming from that Belgrade municipality. Firefighters are still at the scene, and a missing worker has not yet been found.

The fire broke out yesterday around 10:40 am. The fire engulfed one floor, while 55 firefighters with 25 vehicles from Obrenovac, Surcin, Batajnica, Zeleznik, Kosutnjak, Zvezdara and Zemun were deployed in extinguishing it.

The photos we are publishing were taken before dawn, at around 5 am this morning.

We learned that the fire was being put out during the night and at time firefighters were waiting for the next shift to replace them. The worker, V.L. (53), has been missing since yesterday.

Also, according to Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic, three more women were transferred to the healthcare center, but their injuries are not serious.

The total number of injured persons has grown since the putting out of the fire started.

"They were transferred to the nearby emergency medical service. Among them are three firefighters. They have minor injuries," said the mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, and called on citizens to keep their windows closed until the smoke dissipates.
