One person killed in fire in Zemun
One person lost their life in a fire that broke out in Grmecka Street in Zemun, the Ministry of the Interior has confirmed for Telegraf.rs.
As we have learned unofficially, the victim is J.F. (94), who lived alone.
As the neighbors told our reporter, the fire broke out on the ground floor, and them spread to the upper floor.
"He lived alone in that part of the house," said the neighbors who were worried about what happened to the man. They also said that a tenant lives on the upper floor, but fortunately she was not there at the time.
The fire broke out around 5 o'clock, and this morning police, fire brigade and ambulance teams were still at the scene.
There were two fire trucks and two patrol cars at the scene.
Luckily, the fire did not spread to the surrounding buildings, although there were fears that it would spread via the roof.
The electricity distribution company workers also came to turn off the electricity.
The police put tape around the scene, and the Ministry of the Interior told Telegraf.rs early this morning that teams were working on putting out the fire.
