Kon on introduction of Covid passes around the clock: "That's currently impossible"
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said that introduction of Covid passes that would be required 24/7 is currently impossible because there is no system in place to control that. Kon also stated that it is obvious that the measures that were introduced are producing results, because we have had a slight decrease in the number of new cases.
The epidemiologist states that one of the problems is that the passes were not introduced last summer, and he stresses that the best results would have been achieved if there had been a 10-day lockdown, and if the passes were introduced then.
"The passes are producing results and that is important. We cannot introduce them to be required non-stop because that would require mass control, and we are limited in that. This is just a matter of proving capability because people need to learn that they will be punished if they do not respect the measures," Kon told the morning program of Kurir TV.
He once again stressed that the vaccine is very important and that with the vaccine the severity of the diseases is significantly milder while mortality is very low.
"The dynamic of the epidemic makes it impossible to know everything the same moment. Then they say that we are contradictory. The third dose shows that it is sufficient and prevents further transmission. In Israel, as soon as they introduced the third dose, they had a sharp drop in the number of newly infected people. With the vaccine, the clinical picture is significantly milder and mortality is very low. I don't understand why we don't have statistics yet on how many vaccinated people died. I personally wrote a request because it must be known. So far, it has been shown that vaccinated people cannot be cured of their chronic diseases because they do not get their turn since unvaccinated people are taking their place in the hospital. The unvaccinated are socially irresponsible and that is the way it is. We have a drop in the number of new cases and that is a consequence of the new measures," said Kon.
The epidemiologist stressed that now is a time when as many people as possible need to be vaccinated.
"We didn't make use of any of the things we could have done. We will talk about coronavirus for years to come. What is certain is that the virus has survived and will survive. This virus, when the collective immunity is raised, will survive in people who are not protected. Like any virus, it seeks room in animal species," said Kon.
