Unilateral actions of Pristina are not being ruled out in the coming period, especially when it comes to Pristina's attempt to take over the electricity transmission grid in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, the chairman of the Serbian Assembly0s Committee on Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, has told RTS.

The position of the US and the EU when it comes to the implementation of the Brussels Agreement is very important, because they can influence Pristina, he said, adding that this influence exists and that it is very important they said Pristina must implement the part of the agreement which concerns the formation of the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities).

"(Albin) Kurti not only opposes that, but also undertakes other unilateral moves that further undermine what has been achieved," said the head of of the parliamentary Committee on Kosovo and Metohija.

When it comes to the energy situation, Drecun says that it is complicated, which is why it is possible that Pristina could try to take over two transmission stations in the north of Kosovo, the power substations Valac and Gazivode.

"The transmission grid in the north is managed by EPS (Serbian state power company), while Pristina wants to take it over, as well as collect bills. And that would again be a unilateral action. The Brussels agreement does not define the field of energy, but two agreements enabled the establishment of two companies, EPS Trgovina and Elektro Sever. Instead of respecting the agreement and enabling the work of these two companies, they are making deals with Albanian companies to take over that market. Since they cannot legally take over the supply market in the north, it is not ruled out that Pristina will take unilateral steps," said Drecun.

Belgrade can warn about the moves that Pristina is preparing, said Drecun, because our people cannot allow their lives to depend on the good will of Pristina, since Pristina is not well-intentioned towards Serbs.

"It's a matter of life and survival. They know that the Serb people will oppose that, and they do not take such unilateral actions without special units, and when you deploy special forces, violence is inevitable," he explained.

He does not expect the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue to continue before the end of the second round of local elections (in Kosovo and Metohija) and the final results, and it is not yet known when the second round of elections will be held.

Open Balkan growing from initiative into process

Speaking about Open Balkan, Milovan Drecun said that it is no longer just an initiative, but a process that should realize political agreements, while. according to him, the meeting held in Belgrade should contribute to that.

"I don't know why we should justify ourselves to anyone and why anyone would mind if this region develops. This is not a backup plan for EU membership, it is in the spirit of European integration," Drecun believes.

He added that a lot of workers from abroad can already be seen at construction sites in Serbia, which is why facilitating procedures is important for development.

"The EU must help the countries of the region much more to develop faster and make their path to membership easier, rather than make things harder for them," he added.
