Final decision has been made when booster dose of Covid vaccine should be received

The National Committee for Immunization has made the final decision on the application of the booster dose for all persons whose primary vaccination has been completed, and the instructions were published on its website by the Institute of Public Health of Serbia Dr. Milan Jovanovic Batut. The third dose should be given after at least four months to all those who received the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine as the first two doses, while all those who received other vaccines should receive the booster dose after at least five months.

"Based on the decision of the National Committee for Immunization, and according to the Expert-Methodological Instruction for the implementation of emergency recommended immunization in Serbia, the booster dose of Covid 19 vaccine is applied to all persons who have completed primary vaccination," it is stated on the Batut site and explained:

"After at least five months since the second dose, for persons who have previously received two doses of mRNA (Pfizer-BioNTech) or vector vaccine (Gam-COVID-Vac, AstraZeneca), and after at least four months since the second dose, for persons who have previously received two doses of inactivated vaccine (SARS-CoV2 (Vero Cell) Inactivated-Sinopharm)."

Also, as stated, persons with primary and secondary immunodeficiencies (persons who received the mRNA vaccine, at least 28 days after the second dose, as an additional, third dose), should receive the booster dose after at least five months.

Citizens themselves decide which type of vaccine to receive as a booster dose.

"It is possible for a person to choose the type of vaccine that will be used as a booster dose," said the Batut Institute, and added that when the Gam-COVID-Vac (Sputnik V) vaccine is used as a booster dose, then the first component of the said vaccine is administered.
