First footage showing the future pride of Belgrade: Bodrog has been restored to its former glory
Video: The ship that started the First World War: Bodrog returns to the scene of the crime
Yesterday, the river monitor Sava, also known as the Bodrog (while it was originally in sevice in the Austro-Hungarian Navy) arrived at the Quay in Belgrade, and it represents a significant historic "souvenir."
A Telegraf.rs portal crew was at the scene to see what the ship looks like now in its new edition: the Bodrog has regained its splendor from 1914.
The ship is known to the general public for the fact that the opening shots which marked the start of the Great War were fired from her, against Belgrade's defenses.
As confirmed for us from the Ministry of Defense, a ceremonial unveiling of the ship, which was once a wreck, is also planned. What is characteristic of ships from that era is that they were mostly painted light gray, and the Bodrog is no exception.
Major works were carried out in Apatin during 2017 and 2018 in order to restore the ship to its former glory as much as possible.
See what the ship looks like now in the video at the top of the page, and tell us your impressions in the comments.
