President of the Serbian Assembly Committee on Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun assessed that the Serb List confirmed in the local elections in Kosovo and Metohija that the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija want full coordination of their political representatives with Belgrade.

Drecun told RTS that the Serb people clearly responded to all unilateral measures from Pristina with the good result of the Serb List in the first round of local elections.

"The high level of trust shown towards the Serb List, and thus to Belgrade, has shown that Serbs are not afraid of any violent actions by Pristina, that in the future they will respond to new possible such actions united, and that's a good thing for the Serb List, it confirmed its political strength and it could come out with a demand to Pristina that it will soon give up participation in the temporary institutions of self-government in Pristina unless the ZSO is formed," said Drecun.

He added that the Serb List confirmed with the result that the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija believe that they cannot survive in the coming period without the state of Serbia.

Speaking about Albanian political parties, Drecun assessed that Albanian voters sent a message to the prime minister of the Provisional Institutions of Pristina, Albin Kurti, that they are not satisfied with what he has done and that he did not keep the promises he made before the parliamentary elections in the province.

"The Albanians are obviously not satisfied with the quality of life, they have no economic perspective. The situation is hopeless, there is a high degree of criminalization of society in Kosovo and Metohija. Organized crime is raging, it is ruling from the shadows. Young people don't have any perspective, unemployment, especially among young people, is huge," Drecun stressed.

He added that Belgrade managed to provide an economic perspective to the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, invest in education, healthcare and social policy, which is bringing certain results, but that the level of respect of human rights of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija is unacceptably low.

Drecun said that difficult negotiations with Pristina will follow in November, which would take time, but also that Self-Determination and Kurti declared that the Brussels Agreement was not valid for them and that it was contrary to the so-called constitution of the provisional institutions.

"We have a very unclear situation where warnings are recieved from officials of the EU, which is the mediator in the talks, that the ZSO must be formed, that there is talk about it, while Pristina says that it will not form the Community. And now we are waiting. I think that Lajcak has been strangely quiet, he is not making any statements, and he is the one who should prepare the talks," said Drecun.

According to Drecun, the future of Albin Kurti's policy is very uncertain and unless he gives up on not implementing the Brussels Agreement, the talks with Belgrade have no prospects.

Drecun believes that Kurti is trying to only achieve "mutual recognition" without forming the Community, while other issues would be resolved after that.
