Negotiations in Brussels: Chief negotiators to meet in November, working group meets today
Deputy PM of so-called Kosovo Besnik Bislimi says that the next round of negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo at the level of chief negotiators will be held in the second half of November in Brussels, reports Koha.
Bislimi said that currently there will be no high-level meetings between the prime minister of so-called Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
"The exact date of the next meeting is not known. The negotiators' meeting will take place in the second half of November. Therefore there can be no meeting between the heads of state. I am encouraged that the Progress Report states that both sides must engage constructively in order to reach a comprehensive, legally binding agreement to normalize relations. This will be an obligation, rather than for partial and segmented issues," said Bislimi.
First meeting of working group on license plates
The first meeting of a working group which should deal with resolving the dispute between Belgrade and Pristina over license plates will be held today in Brussels. EU spokesman Peter Stano told Tanjug that "the goal of the working group is to find a lasting solution to this issue."
He stated that the working group, composed of experts from the EU, Belgrade and Pristina will meet regularly, as agreed on September 30.
The agreement ended the crisis at crossings between central Serbia and Kosovo and restored freedom of movement as license plate stickers started to be used. It was agreed to to form a working group, which should reach an agreement in the next six months on a permanent solution to the issue of recognition of license plates between Belgrade and Pristina.
The findings of the working group should be discussed at a high-level dialogue meeting between Belgrade and Pristina. They note in Brussels that the meetings within the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, at the level of chief negotiators and leaders, will be taking place independently of those of the working group.
