Grandmother whose grandson is suspected of murdering her to be buried: "God, how much she loved him"

Verica N., 67, from the village of Godacica near Kraljevo, whose grandson V.N., 18, murdered her with an ax after an altercation, will be laid to rest today at 2 pm in the local cemetery.

Even after two days, people in Godacica are in disbelief that the young man was able to what he did, Kurir writes.

The crime that disturbed people in our country but also in the region happened on Wednesday at 3:30 pm on the ground floor of a house where the grandmother and her grandson lived, and during the crime, the young man's sister was in her room.

After the gruesome murder had been committed, V.N. came out of the house and said, "I'm done, now call the police!"

Neighbors explained that V.N. allegedly had mental health issues.

"This was not the first time he attacked his grandmother, who was an exceptional woman. And even with everything he was doing to her, she loved him and showed understanding for him. You can see it in the fact that Verica came here after living with her daughter, who is in another village, to take care of her grandson and granddaughter while their parents are in Slovenia," said one of the relatives.

Danijela N., the suspect's mother, previously said that her son suffered abuse from his grandmother, who she said "often insulted and berated him, and spat at him".

"The quarrel with the grandmother started because she didn't allow the heating boiler to be turned on. She was a curmudgeon, she was throwing him out of the room, she was holding a stump in her hand, and something clicked in his head. He was an angel child. Ever since his father got sick and is waiting for heart surgery in Slovenia, everything started to go downhill somehow. He was nervous, and could not get along at all with his grandmother, who was his father's mother," the suspect's mother said.
