Is Serbia introducing Covid passes? "I know what will happen, we won't be able to control them"
No country can control the use of Covid passes, so neither could we, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in reply to journalists during a press conference held after the session of the Crisis HQ, when asked whether and when Covid passes will be introduced in Serbia.
"We have worked a lot and thought a lot about it, we have them ready. It's possible that we will introduce them at some point, or perhaps not, but I know what will happen if we introduce Covid passes. We will not be able to control them, no country can. The (fake) passes can be bought in New York for 100 dollars," stated Brnabic.
She said that in that case, instead of focusing on anti-Covid measures, we would look for that one person who bought a Covid pass or the one who went inside a venue without being asked to show one.
"We do not have one inspector per capita. Pandemics like this can be overcome only through a sense of personal responsibility, and that is getting vaccinated," she stressed.
About two weeks ago the prime minister said that the state was ready to introduce Covid passes, but that they are just a way to make sure young people, above all, get the vaccine, and that passes are not a "magic bullet" to solve the Covid pandemic.
"We've got everything ready for Covid passes. I'll have more discussions, to see if we can go for it. But, I hear on different media and from various experts, different information and views on things," Brnabic previously told reporters in Vinca, adding that 16 days earlier she had announced the introduction of Covid passes, but that such a decision has not been made yet.
"The only answer to all this is vaccination. We are talking again about measures, passes, everything that is not crucial in solving the pandemic. Vaccines are the key, the first and third dose," said Brnabic.
