Number of citizens at Jarinje and Brnjak increasing: Traffic is interrupted, Rosu carry out control
The blockade of roads leading to administrative crossings of Jarinje and Brnjak continued today, and the number of citizens who oppose the decision of the Pristina authorities to ban entry to Kosovo and Metohija to cars with Serbian license plates is higher this morning than last night, reports Kosovo Online.
Traffic at Jarinje and Brnjak is interrupted, while there are jams at Merdare because of the replacing of license plates with temporary ones.
Pristina introduced this measure two days ago, which increased tensions in the north and caused concern among the locals.
At Brnjak and Jarinje, the transport of passengers works, but buses bring them to the crossing, then they walk 800 meters to the blockade and there get picked up by other buses or cars.
Members of the special units of the Kosovo police, Rosu, had a shift about one hour after midnight, and the night passed without incidents.
Apart from members of Rosu, the situation in the north of Kosovo and Metohija was also monitored by KFOR, who patrol in helicopters.
The main highways leading towards Jarinje and Brnjak got blocked by heavy machinery set up by disgruntled citizens on Monday morning after members of Rosu arrived at those administrative crossings with the intention of implementing Pristina's decision to seize Serbian license plates and replace them with temporary "RKS" ones.
