A Serbian citizen (30), who was arrested last night in Germany on suspicion of holding hostages in a bus owned by the Lasta carrier, was questioned during the night, the police confirmed this morning.

It is not known at this time what he said during the interrogation, nor what his mental or physical condition is.

The Serbian was arrested after a four-hour blockade of the highway between Hilpoltstein and Greding, on suspicion that he took three drivers hostage.

Before that there was a fight on board the bus which was traveling to Serbia, during which a man and a woman got slightly injured. According to the media, because of the conflict, the bus stopped in the highway's stopping lane, after which a report arrived that there was an armed man in the vehicle.

"The man in the bus claimed that he had a gun and that he would kill everyone. There was a physical confrontation between several passengers and two were slightly injured," the police announced late last night.

After the bus stopped, the passengers managed to escape while three drivers and the suspect remained inside. The police then blocked the highway and sent special units to the scene to negotiate with the suspect. The media report that negotiations were difficult because almost none of the people who were on the bus spoke German.

This morning, the police did not want to confirm or deny whether the arrested man has been charged with kidnapping. They stated that the bus was searched and that no weapons were found in it.

A police spokesman said that the suspect was arrested last night around 9:30 pm, and that he did not resist arrest.

They announced that they contacted the suspect over one of the drivers' phones.

The Lasta bus was driving toward Munich last night, from where it was supposed to continue its journey towards Serbia. According to unconfirmed information, the Serbian citizen who got arrested boarded the bus in Frankfurt. The police did not announce the identity of the attacker, while Tanjug reported that his initials are F.K.
