An ambulance crew in Kragujevac was attacked this morning in the settlement of Zdraljica when a patient pulled a machete on them, and then barricaded himself in his house threatening to commit suicide, it has been confirmed for Telegraf.rs.

As Director of the Institute for Emergency Medical Aid Gordana Djokic said, they received a call from local residents in that settlement at around 8:45 am about an unconscious man lying in a nearby yard.

"There is a negotiating team in front of the house. He is in his house, barricaded, the drama is still ongoing. Luckily, the members of our team managed to escape," the director told Telegraf.rs, referring to the ambulance crew that was originally dispatched to the scene.

"Fortunately, no one has been injured. We received a call about an unconscious person. Nobody expected something like this to happen. Unfortunately, this is our life. As the ambulance team started to bring him back, he jumped on them and pulled out a machete. The members of the team managed to escape from the house without injuries, and the patient then barricaded himself up and is threatening to kill himself," she told Beta.
