Vucic speaks about curfew: "There will be certain measures, I would support mandatory vaccination"
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic says that the Crisis HQ will consider Covid measures, but that it will also have to think about the economy.
"It's not easy to introduce mandatory vaccination because of our country's Constitution. I would personally support that, but I cannot be guided by personal desires. My position is unequivocal, but I must respect the Constitution."
As he explained, it depends on us how the situation with the epidemic will develop.
"The outcome depends on us. We arrived relatively quickly at 48 percent (vaccinated population), then we almost stopped and we could not reach 51 percent. What can you do when there are people who don't believe the disease exists, and then it happens that someone in their family dies? Then they say, 'I'm sorry'," Vucic added.
Asked about the possible introduction of a curfew, he said:
"If we mentioned curfew, they would immediately accuse us of being afraid of riots or demonstrations."
He announced that some measures could be introduced.
"There will be certain measures, but we also have to live. It's a matter of personal responsibility, first of all vaccination, and then the rest."
Finally, he said that he will receive the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
