Nikodijevic: It is natural for Vucic to be a joint candidate in upcoming elections
SPS presidency member Nikola Nikodijevic today rejected allegations published by some media that the Socialists (SPS) do not want to support Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic as a joint candidate in the local upcoming elections, and pointed out that relations between Vucic's SNS and SPS have been excellent for years.
Nikodijevic said that it was quite natural for Vucic to be a joint candidate of the SNS and SPS in the presidential election, and added that he expects him to win in the first round.
"It is absolutely logical that in both the city and possibly the parliamentary elections, if there are any, we have cooperation with the SNS and continue the successfully started projects, for the benefit of the citizens," Nikodijevic told Tanjug.
He added that the City of Belgrade is the best example of how relations between SNS and SPS function.
"We have been doing a fantastic job for eight years, decisions are made by agreement and consensus, and the Socialists and the Progressives (SNS) have not had a single problem in Belgrade during these eight years," said Nikodijevic, who is also the president of the Belgrade City Assembly.
He added that the two parties are cooperating very well in the City Assembly and in all Belgrade municipalities.
According to him, when deciding on a number of important issues the question does not arise from which political option someone comes.
"Such cooperation gives extraordinary results. Belgrade is being built up, we are starting to build the metro, we are developing Belgrade in all directions. I believe that it should remain so in the coming period as well," Nikodijevic stressed.
