Vucic receives invitation to attend enthronement of Metropolitan Joanikije in Montenegro

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic today received an invitation from the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) to attend the enthronement of Metropolitan Joanikije on September 5 in Cetinje, a souce from the Patriarchate has confirmed for Telegraf.

"The invitation was handed over to President Vucic today through the Patriarchate," said the source.

According to media reports, in the coming days, the president of Serbia will make a decision whether to go to Montenegro and whether to appear at the ceremony, taking into account the interests of the Serb people.

Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Joanikije confirmed earlier today that his enthronement will be held in Cetinje on September 5, "despite calls for it to be relocated due to heightened tensions," Podgorica daily Vijesti reports.
