Nebojsa (25) who was beaten to death at engagement party laid to rest: "He was a sweet child"
Nebojsa Milenkovic (25) from the village of Stubal near Kraljevo, who died after a fight between guests at an engagement party, has been buried in the local cemetery with family and friends in attendance. They spent the morning at his grave yesterday, and crushed by pain, briefly commenting that their loved one "died unjustly."
"I can't say anything... Our house is full. We spent the morning at his grave today," Nebojsa's grandmother Milka Brdjanin told Blic.
Ilinka Milenkovic, the other grandmother of the young victim, said that he "died unjustly" and that she could not say how the murder unfolded because she was not present.
"I heard they got drunk and people are saying they were behaving wantonly... But I can't say anything. I was not there. It didn't have to happen that way. He should not have died. They say it's because of a girl," says Ilinka.
The grandmother added that Nebojsa lived in Switzerland, but that he had been spending time in the village lately.
"He was a sweet child, what more can I tell you," says Ilinka.
The beginning of the clash between two groups of men in which Nebojsa Milenkovic (25) from the village of Stubal near Kraljevo was killed was recorded by video surveillance cameras. The video, however, does not show the end of the fight, that is, the brutal beating of the young man that took place outside the scope of the security cameras.
The grandfather of the victim, Jovan Milenkovic, says through tears:
"The one who brutally killed my grandson from behind was first arrested for inflicting bodily injuries, and only later, when Nebojsa passed away, he was remanded in custody for murder."
Milenkovic died at the Clinical Hospital Center in Kragujevac from severe head injuries he sustained in a fight between two groups of guests at a family celebration in the village. The fight happened on the night between Friday and Saturday, when two groups of guests clashed verbally, and then physically, at an engagement party.
According to unofficial information, M.M. (39) inflicted several blows to Nebojsa's head, due to which the unfortunate young man was first transported to the General Hospital Studenica in Kraljevo, and then to the Clinical Hospital Center in Kragujevac. Despite the huge efforts made by the doctors to save his life, the young man unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.
On suspicion that he committed the murder, a judge for prior procedure ordered M.M. to be detained for up to 30 days. The decision came at the suggestion of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Kraljevo. In addition to him, members of the Kraljevo police arrested four other men, aged between 25 and 33, and criminal complaints have been filed against them for participating in this fight.
