The mayors of North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Leposavic and Zvecan reacted to the news of the verdict against Ivan Todosijevic by saying it was disgraceful and passed by illegal, mono-ethnic courts, thus violating the Brussels agreement in the field of justice, endangering basic rights of the Serb people.

"Bearing in mind that there is no reaction from the international community, especially the European Union, which is the guarantor of these agreements, to Pristina's persistent refusal to implement the agreements which are in the interest of the Serb people, what remains is for us to clearly raise our voice on behalf of all our citizens," said the mayors.

In a press release, they say that after consultations within the party (Serb List), they will consider whether it will be possible at all to organize the upcoming local elections in municipalities with a majority Serb population in the north, because, as they say, the elections and participation of citizens from the north is based on the Brussels agreement, which Pristina has grossly violated.

The Court of Appeals of Kosovo has sentenced the president of the municipality of Zvecan and a deputy from the Serb List Ivan Todosijevic to two years in prison for statements he made about Racak.

It thus confirmed the first-instance verdict by which Todosijevic, who was the minister of administration and local self-government of Kosovo at the time, was convicted for alleged "incitement to national, racial, religious hatred, unrest or intolerance."
