British actor John Challis, who played the role of Boycie in the cult sitcom "Only Fools and Horses," has posted a photo on social networks showing his black Mercedes with license plates reading, "SRBIA."

The photo was taken last week in front of the Serbian Embassy in London. Prior to that, John Challis officially submitted his application to become a citizen of the Republic of Serbia.

"At the Serbian Embassy, Mr. Challis was received by Ambassador of Serbia to the United Kingdom Aleksandra Joksimovic. I had the honor to sign a recommendation on behalf of the City of Belgrade for 'Boycie' to become a Serbian citizen. It was not easy to list on one page all that he has done to promote Serbia and Belgrade, especially in the UK, and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic supported the idea. I would like to especially thank our man who grew up and lives in London, Lazar Vukovic, who is most deserving for 'Boycie' (Challis) loving Belgrade and Serbia so much," Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic wrote on Facebook.

The citizenship application is already in Belgrade, and when all procedures have been completed, the government will take a vote.

"It's nice to know that successful and popular people like John Challis want to be citizens of Serbia. I am happy because 'Boycie' is officially becoming a Belgrader. He essentially became a resident of our city when he filmed 'Boycie in Belgrade'. Boycie, welcome home!," added Vesic.
