RZD International has completed all works on a viaduct in the flooding part of the Danube and the Cortanovci tunnel, which marks one step closer to the completion of one of the largest traffic projects in the history of Serbia, the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway.

During a ceremony of connecting the tracks on the Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section, in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the director of RZD said that a similar project does not exist in the Balkan region, while Minister Tomislav Momirovic announced that the line would be completed on time.

"I thank the president of Serbia for including me in the project of building a high-speed railway from Belgrade to Subotica and insisting that I pay special attention to the construction of the section from Belgrade to Novi Sad as soon as possible. I must admit that at the beginning I did not understand the significance of this project, nor what the high-speed railway brings to Serbia where most modern Swiss trains will run at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

After a year of working on this project, I can say that this high-speed railway from Belgrade to Novi Sad is revolutionary in terms of traffic and economy. This is a project that best depicts the strength that Serbia has now," Momirovic wrote on Instagram.

As he announced, the high-speed railway from Belgrade to Novi Sad is the most modern and fastest in Southeast Europe and will be open for traffic in February.
