"Combining vaccines is good, I'll try it on myself first": Sekler talks about third dose
Virologist and microbiologist of the Veterinary Institute in Kraljevo Milanko Sekler said this morning that previous studies done around the world show that, when it comes to the third dose of the coronavirus vaccines, certain combinations of different vaccines have produced good results, and that he himself experiments with the doses.
"There is a lot of data on this topic from Turkey, where people were given Sinovac, a Chinese inactivated vaccine, but with somewhat weaker parameters than Sinopharm. A large number of people got two doses of this vaccine and one dose of Pfizer, which proved to be a good combination," he told TV Pink.
According to him, a Chinese publication also showed that two inactivated Chinese vaccines, in combination with one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, provide quite decent protection.
He added that Argentinian scientists combined two doses of Sinopharm with one Sputnik, which also gave good results.
Sekler stressed that he decided to conduct an experiment himself along with some friends, mostly doctors, in order to have the results of research he could rely on.
"I'll try it on myself first. Yesterday, after two Chinese, I received Sputnik as the third dose, several doctor friends of mine will also receive various combinations, so after a few weeks when we do blood tests, we will see what we got," Sekler explained.
He said that it is inconceivable to him that health workers do not want be vaccinated and that he would ask all those who do not want to get the jab to explain their position in a scientific way.
When it comes to the weak response of young people to vaccination, he suggested that some ideas from Great Britain should be applied in our country, which gave good results there.
"Vaccination points should be set up in front of nightclubs, stadiums and other places where young people gather, and a decision should be made beforehand that only those who have been vaccinated, have had Covid or have been tested can enter such places.
At those points, they could do a quick antigen test for free, and all they would have to do in return is be vaccinated," said Milanko Sekler.
