Wildfire breaks out in Mt. Tara canyon
The fire broke out and the terrain was inaccessible
The fire in the Durmitor National Park in Serbia is still burning today, and due to inaccessible terrain, it is spreading into the depths of the canyon of the Tara River, the director of the Durmitor National Park, Pero Popovic, said today.
"The fire is spreading with dry grass into the depths of the Tara (river) canyon. The terrain is inaccessible and can only be intervened from the air," Popovic told Montenegro TV.
He said that the Secretariat for Emergency Situations was informed about that yesterday.
He stressed that in the previous days, firefighters managed to stop the fire, but that it picked up again when the wind changed.
This wildfire has not been localized yet.
