The helicopter unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) has just departed Surcin, Belgrade, en route for Greece, where its members will provide assistance in extinguishing wildfires that have been burning in that country for six days straight, Telegraf.rs has learned.

Three helicopters have taken off, two Bell 212s and one H-145, with 14 crew from the Serbian Interior Ministry's Helicopter Unit.

Members of this unit were in North Macedonia for almost the whole past week, where they also helped in extinguishing wildfires, and before that they provided their help on Mt. Stolac above Visegrad.

During all that time, these heroes are helping to put out wildfires in our country as well.

Yesterday, 37 members of the Sector for Emergency Situations of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior left the town of Nis for Greece with 14 fire trucks.

Acting Assistant Minister and Head of the Sector for Emergency Situations Luka Causic specified that our firefighters will be deployed on the island of Evia.
