Serbian water polo players beat Spain 10-9 after a great drama and qualified for the final of the Olympic Games, where they will fight for Olympic gold against Greece on Sunday (starting at 16.30 am, to be broadcast on RTS).

Our dolphins played an amazing match that could have caused some heart attacks. They were behind most of it, but then they showed how much heart they have and that they are great champions.

Serbia started the match well with a 2-0 lead, but then it was as if our players stopped, or the Spaniards accelerated. The 4-0 series gave them a two-goal advantage of 2-4, but by halftime we managed to reduce the result to 4-5.

The problem was the finishing in the attack phase, while in defense we managed to do as much as possible.

The Spaniards then went on an offensive and scored two more goals for 4-7 and then it was already clear that there was no more time to wait. You have to go in all or nothing, and our guys went for everything.

Fortunately, we scored at the end of the quarter and reduced the advantage to 5-7, before the last period. Spain dictated the pace in the last quarter, but Serbia showed its champion's heart and came back to life.

Our team played like in a trance, the Spaniards reached 7-8, but we equalized through Stefan Mitrovic's shot for a 8-8. There was drama in the pool, a big fight and a new goal by Spain a minute before the end, but Dusan Mandic returned the favor immediately for a 9-9.

The Spaniards were going on the attack, trying everything, but our defense was made of stone. We defended ourselves and there were 35 seconds left until the end. We were going for all or nothing, captain Filipovic took the responsibility and scored a "bomb" from four meters for a 10-9 lead and Serbia's victory. We thwarted the last attempt of the Spaniard 25 seconds before the end and calmly celebrated the final.

SERBIA v SPAIN ENDED 10-9 (2-0, 4-5, 1-2, 3-2).
