Serbs, Albanians, Macedonians dance in Prijepolje: Each in their costumes, flags fluttering
A video of a beautiful scene recorded in Prijepolje showed that the idea of "brotherhood and unity" is still alive among the peoples of the region. On the occasion of the 13th "Bridges of the Balkans" gathering, a traditional kolo dance stretched through this city, showing the diversity of folk costumes of the Balkan nations.
Young people dressed in the national costumes of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Albania danced in the streets of this town together and thus provided an unusual, but also beautiful scene. The flags of these Balkan nations were also on display.
All together, holding hands, they evoked memories of the times when these nations lived together. The whole scene brought with it a degree of nostalgia, and perhaps the most beautiful thing was that these were youths who probably don't even remember "living together."
A large number of citizens gathered to attend this unusual scene. Many interpreted this gesture of young folklorists as as meaning that living together, with tolerance and respect for diversity, is quite possible.
The 13th "Bridges of the Balkans" event started in Prijepolje on August 2, with the aim of preserving the traditions of the Balkan peoples, includes folk singing, polyphony and playing traditional instruments.
