This is Aleksandar, killed in explosion in Germany: He was to come to Serbia on vacation soon
Uzice is mourning the tragic death of their fellow citizen Aleksandar Ivanovic (37), who died in Germany in a horrific explosion. Aleksandar lost his life last Tuesday when, for as yet unknown reasons, an explosion happened in an industrial park in Leverkusen.
Aleksandar left behind his wife Ivana (29), daughter Mina who is only two years old, parents, two sisters... Everyone is in shock because of the tragedy that hit their family.
According to Aleksandar's sister Anica, her brother went to work as usual the fateful morning. The company he worked for had been engaged in the factory for some time. Shortly after he arrived at work, there was an explosion in which Aleksandar was seriously injured.
"We still don't know exactly what happened. The investigation is still ongoing. Colleagues tried to save him. Two colleagues pulled him out and somehow transported him to the gate," Anica told Telegraf.rs.
Numerous rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene. Helicopters were also involved. They placed Aleksandar in one of them and transported him to a hospital in Cologne.
"He was transferred to the hospital in the first helicopter. Due to the severity of the injuries, he was placed in induced coma. He was transferred to the hospital around 10 am, and at 16:25 we lost him forever," Anica says inconsolably.
The news of the tragedy reached Anica in Serbia, just like her sister-in-law Ivana.
"We came to Serbia on vacation, and he was supposed to join us in mid-August. His colleagues who pulled him out informed us that there had been an explosion. My husband told me that Aca (Aleksandar) was in a bad condition and that we should head back to Germany," she said.
Aleksandar was identified by DNA after a sample was taken from Anica. Until the last moment, she hoped that there was a mistake, that her brother had not been killed in the explosion. Unfortunately, results soon arrived that confirmed the worst fears.
A memorial service was held in a church on Monday, attended by many of Aleksandar's friends. After that, the coffin with his body left for Serbia, where Aleksandar will be buried today.
Six people were killed and dozens injured in the explosion in Leverkusen.
His friends are saying goodbye to Aleksandar on social networks with moving posts.
"Rest in peace, our brother. You will live forever in our hearts," "Great sadness. Rest in peace, Aco, let angels protect you," said some of the comments left on the news about the tragic death of Aleksandar.
