Batut Institute reveals how many vaccinated people in Serbia got Covid

Since the start of vaccination in Serbia until the end of April, only 0.3 percent of those fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine and 0.5 percent of those who received Sputnik V became infected with coronavirus, according to the Institute for Public Health Milan Jovanovic Batut, reports Tanjug.

Dr. Vladan Saponjic stated that the study showed that 1.5 percent of those vaccinated with Sinopharm and 2.5 percent of those vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca contracted the virus.

"With AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sputnik, it was shown that there have been very few hospitalizations and severe clinical pictures among the infected, and in that period there were no registered deaths among those vaccinated," Saponjic told Novosti.

The director of Batut Verica Jovanovic, says that there is still not enough reliable research about which vaccine might be most effective against the new Delta strain, and adds that people from vulnerable groups will probably receive the third dose of vaccine from the manufacturer they have already been vaccinated with.

She says that administering the first and second doses is still a priority, and that, if there are any recommendations regarding the manufacturer in the event of giving the third dose, citizens will be informed in a timely manner.

The Crisis HQ has recommended that the third dose be given to patients with autoimmune diseases, patients on hemodialysis, after transplantation, oncology patients, people with chronic inflammation of the liver, kidneys and lungs.
