New city transport system: The bus does not move until all doors close, cameras, screens, buttons...
The mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, believes that safety of passengers in city traffic is a priority issue, and that is why it is necessary to equip city buses with new systems, which include lighting above the door, buttons for drivers and more.
We are introducing new safety systems in buses that will significantly increase the safety of passengers, said the mayor, Professor Dr. Zoran Radojicic, speaking for TV Prva.
"This morning, I checked the functioning of this new security system in several public transport buses. The essence of this security system is that the bus will not be able to depart until all the doors are closed," Radojicic pointed out.
He specified that cameras will be installed above all doors, and the situation will be controlled by the driver through a special screen that will give him a clearer view of the vehicle door.
"This will make it easier for them to see if passengers got on or off the bus safely. Each vehicle will have a special button for the driver that lights up while the door is open and goes out when closed. In addition, we are introducing new lighting above the door so that passengers can see more clearly whether the door is closed or open. So far, we have equipped 500 buses in this way. Our goal is to install this system in all buses by September 1. These will provide additional safety factors, especially for children, because we want to reduce all types of risks before the beginning of the school year and increase safety of all passengers in public city transport vehicles," said Mayor Radojicic.
