Disastrous statistics in Serbia continue: Almost twice as many people died than were born in June

Fewer babies have been born in Serbia in June, and more people died compared to the same month last year. If it's any consolation, compared to May of this year, more children were born in June, and fewer people died, shows the latest data from the Statistical Office of Serbia.

According to this data, 5,157 children were born in June, while 9,098 people died in our country during the same time.

The most babies since the beginning of the year were born in March - 5,349, when, on the other hand, there were also the most deaths - 12,952.

"In Serbia, in the period January-June 2021, the number of live births was 28,813. Compared to the same period last year, when the number of live births was 29,314, there has been a decrease of 501 or 1.7 percent," the Office said on its website.

The number of deaths in the period January-June 2021 was 65,817 and, compared to the same period last year, when the number of deaths was 51,569, there has been an increase of 14,248 or 27.6 percent.

Namely, 4,550 people were born in January, 4,435 in February, 5,349 in March, 4,560 in April, 4,762 in May and 5,157 in June.

In the first month of 2021, 10,417 people died, in February 10,166, in March 12,952, in April 12,659, in May 10,525, and in June 9,098.
