Until the global situation calms down, Covid will be a threat, it depends on all of us how hard it will hit us in the fall, and whether it will - very likely yes, the director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic, Dr. Goran Stevanovic, said today.

Stevanovic told Tanjug that coronavirus should still be guarded against, because as the numbers show the epidemic is not over, while it is evident that citizens have relaxed.

"This is not the case only in our country, but everywhere around the world. It's not possible for people to maintain attention for too long about preventive protection being needed, and when it seems that the numbers are dropping - relaxing follows. This will help the virus reactivate and we see not only in our country but everywhere in the surroundings and around the world that the numbers are growing again," he warned.

Ssked whether we should be afraid of the fall because of a new wave, Dr. Stevanovic recalled that the flu season and many other respiratory infections is coming, so citizens should be extra careful.

"I would like to point out that we should still be most wary of coronavirus. On the other hand, the fall and winter are the time of the flu. Thanks to the excellent response to the flu vaccination campaign last year and the measures that protect against respiratory infections, we practically did not have a flu epidemic last year, so we all have to think about many infections together," concluded the director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic.
